ABOUT US
New Era University College is the proud achievement of the Chinese community in Malaysia after many years of commitment in establishing the community-funded tertiary institution. New Era was established in 1998 and after many years of commitment and perseverance, it has finally been granted the approval from Ministry of Higher Education on 29th December 2017 to upgrade to University College. This indeed enabled New Era to continue to soar greater heights in future.
There are 3 faculties with 9 different departments. The 3 faculties are Arts & Social Sciences, Media & Creative Art and Business & Information Technology. The 9 departments are Chinese Language & Literature, Guidance & Counselling Psychology, Education, Media Studies, Art & Design, Drama & Visuals, Business Studies, Finance & Accounting and Computer Science & Information Technology. The University College is in the midst of preparing to offer master and doctorate programmes in the near future.

Established in 2006, the Department of Education aims at providing professional training for teachers to serve in Chinese independent schools. Since then, the department has grown and today, it offers a Diploma in Early Childhood Education (ECE), a Diploma in Teaching Chinese as a Second Language (TCSL), a Bachelor in Early Childhood Education (BECE), and a Bachelor in Teaching Chinese as a Second Language (BEDU-TCSL).

The Department of Education values international academic collaboration. Most academic staff was oversea trained. Close relationships and collaboration were established with many famous oversea universities. Oversea internship programme is among the many international collaborations that enable students to gain valuable experiences and exposure to the different world.

Today, New Era University College Education Department is reaching its mission in cultivating and nurturing professional educators who demonstrate knowledge and skills in their field of study, appropriate research and professional practices.
